General Motors India has sold 8,241 vehicles in the month of January 2012. The January sales comprised of 1750 units of Chevrolet Tavera, 1202 units of Chevrolet Spark, 553 units of Chevrolet Cruze, 191 units of Chevrolet Optra, 71 units of Chevrolet Aveo and 34 units of Chevrolet Captiva. The January sales were driven by the encouraging response received by Chevrolet Beat Diesel, India’s most fuel efficient car. Chevrolet Beat has been one of the top performers for GM India this month registering sales of 4440 units.
Commenting on the performance, P. Balendran, Vice President, General Motors India, said “The sales were not on the expected lines as the market continues to be sluggish. High interest rates, hike in fuel prices, commodity prices, growing inflation, and negative market sentiments continue to put lot of pressure on the automobile market. But our vehicles demonstrate our commitment to fully leverage our resources in India to offer customers new products that meet their unique needs. Introduction of best-in-segment cars, increase in customer outreach through distribution network, our unique value proposition like Chevrolet Cashless Ownership offer and our promise to deliver quality and performance are the factors that reiterate our commitment to this market.”
