The Governor of Maharashtra, Shri K. Sankaranarayanan will launch a book entitled ‘I Will and I Can’ on the history of Jai Hind College, one of Mumbai’s premier colleges, on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 5.30 pm at the Jai Hind College Auditorium, Mumbai.

‘I Will and I Can’ – The Story of Jai Hind College, authored by Nandita Bhavnani, and published by Roli Books, tells the inspiring story of how Jai Hind College was established by Sindhi refugees after the Partition in 1948 by a group of college professors from Karachi and the challenges they faced to transplant their institution here in India. It also narrates the story of Jai Hind’s evolution over the decades, describing how the spirit of the founder professors - distilled into the college motto ‘I Will and I Can’ – continues to permeate and animate the college. Believing in an all-round education, and reputed for both its high standards in academics and the plethora of its extra-curricular activities, Jai Hind today stands tall in Mumbai’s educational landscape.

The College extends a warm invitation to its alumni to attend the book launch on July 27. The book can also be bought by the alumni at the function.
