Gulf Oil bags SAP ACE 2008 Award

Recognition for the Best Oil & Gas Sector Implementation in Large Enterprises category.

Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd. has bagged the SAP ACE 2008 Award for the Best Oil & Gas Sector Implementation – Large Enterprises. Mr. P. Divakaran, General Manager (Corporate Planning), accepted the award on behalf of the company.

With a view to upgrade its customized ERP Solution in 4 industrial verticals and to seamlessly integrate all its business functions Gulf Oil implemented SAP, MySAP ERP ECC 6.0. The implementation programme kicked off on 4 June 2007, and the company went live on 5 October 2007. Facilitated by SpectraSoft Technologies Ltd, an approved implementation partner of SAP, the implementation went live within a span of 120 days.

3 of the 4 verticals of Gulf Oil, comprising of 14 Plants, 20 Depots and 20 Mining sites spread across the Country are now SAP enabled. The modules implemented are Finance & Controlling, Material Management, Sales & Distribution, Production Planning, Plant Maintenance, Project Systems, Quality Management and HR Module. The data center is situated at the Gulf Oil's Corporate Office in Hyderabad with a 1 MBPS backhaul bandwidth. The remote Manufacturing plants, Sales, Depots and Mining locations are connected through VSAT, connectivity for which is facilitated by TATANET Services Ltd.

Says Mr. S. Pramanik, Managing Director, on winning the award "Implementation of SAP has enabled us to seamlessly integrate datas in14 manufacturing plants, 20 depots and 20 mine sites across the country operating in three industrial verticals. The end to end information availability on line has helped the Company to improve the operational efficiencies and marked improvement in working capital management with increased CRM".

SAP ACE (Awards for Customer Excellence) is an annual benchmark event organized by SAP India to celebrate customer excellence. The first edition of SAP ACE was instituted on the occasion of SAP completing a decade of operations in India in 2006. The awards are a re-affirmation of the long term commitment of SAP to the deep customer partnerships in the Indian Subcontinent.
