HCC awarded Rs 345.30 cr EPC contract by Sardar Sarovar Nigam

To construct 57 kms of Kachchh Branch Canal in Gujarat in 24 months

HCC Ltd. (Hindustan Construction Company Ltd), India’s leading Infrastructure Construction and Development Company has been awarded an EPC contract by Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd., a Government of Gujarat undertaking, to construct 57 kms of Kachchh Branch Canal (Package II), valued at Rs 345.30 crore.

The scope of work under the EPC contract involves designing and construction canal, services and approach roads and maintenance work for the period of 5 years from the date of commissioning. The project is scheduled for completion by January 2013.

HCC has been involved with water projects all across the country having built 22 dams in almost all parts of India, of which 6 dams were built for irrigation projects.HCC has also built 18 major barrages in India. The barrages at Farakka, West Bengal (2253 meter long) and Sone, Bihar (1407 meters long) are the first and fourth longest in the world respectively. Barrages at Godavari and Ghogra were built in record time. Among the barrages completed are Teesta, West Bengal (921 meter long); Lower Mettur Hydel Project, Tamil Nadu and all four arms of the Godavari barrage at Dowlaiswaram, Andhra Pradesh. The combined length of all 18 barrages built by HCC is more than 12000 meters. Besides dams and barrages, HCC has significant expertise in the design and construction of prestressed and reinforced Concrete Aqueducts. We have built 13 aqueducts and have to our credit the largest water conductor system in the world, the Gomti Aqueduct.
