The Sixth Annual ICRA Mutual Fund Awards function, organised by ICRA Limited along with ICRA Online Limited, was held in Mumbai with the characteristic splendour on February 5, 2009. The sixth edition of the annual event was inaugurated by Mr. D.N. Ghosh, Chairman, ICRA, and addressed by Mr. C.B. Bhave, Chairman, SEBI, and Mr. A.P. Kurian, Chairman, AMFI. It was attended by a host of eminent persons from the Banking and Financial Services industry.
The awards there were many: from trophies for the Best Performing Mutual Fund Schemes in the country during the last one- and three-year periods, to Fund House of the Year awards in the Equity and Debt categories. While the top 10% Funds in each category qualified as 5-Star Funds, the best among these was named the 7-Star Fund. The 5-Star Funds were awarded a Certificate and a Trophy each, while the 7-Star Funds were given 7-Star Gold Awards and Certificates.
The Fund House of the Year Award went to UTI Mutual Fund in the Equity Category and to Birla Sunlife Mutual Fund in the Debt Category.
Some of the other prominent winners included: UTI Mutual Fund, which bagged six ICRA 7-Star Gold Awards across the one- and three-year horizons (the AMC also won three 5-Star Awards); Birla Mutual Fund, which won one ICRA 7-Star Gold Award and seven 5-Stars; ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund, which won three ICRA 7-Star Gold Awards and five 5-Star Awards; ICICI Prudential Gilt Fund Investment Plan, which won the ICRA 7-star Gold Award in the Open-Ended Gilt Category for the one- and three-year horizons; LIC MF Liquid Plus Fund, which won the ICRA 7-Star Gold Award in the Open-Ended Liquid Plus Category over the one- and three-year horizons (the AMC won three ICRA 7-Star Gold Awards and three 5-Star Awards); DSP BlackRock Mutual Fund, which won three ICRA 7-Star Gold awards, with the DSP BlackRock Balanced Fund winning the ICRA 7-Star Gold award in the Open-Ended Balanced Fund Category over the one- and three-year horizons; and IDFC Mutual Fund, which won six 5-Star Awards.
