Jamshyd N. Godrej, Chairman of the Board, Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company Limited takes centrestage as Asia Leader and Keynote Speaker

Mumbai today becomes the ninth Asian city to host the inaugural Asia Leadership Dialogues (ALD) 2009, following the kickoff event in Hong Kong, the second leg in Bangkok, the third leg in Singapore, then in Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City, New Delhi, Jakarta and Manila. This is also the second Indian city to host the ALD.

For a long time, the world has looked to the west for leadership. As US and Europe face a period of economic weakness, the world increasingly looks towards Asia to drive expansion – to be sources of consumption, investment, confidence and leadership in the global economy. India as one of the big 3 Asia economies will focus much more on internal private consumption and become a significant driver in bringing the world economy out of its present recession and into recovery.

Spanning over 10 cities and organised for the corporate movers and shakers across Asia, ALD is a prestigious series of forums to showcase corporations and their C-suite leaders in Asia. The Dialogues recognise Asia leaders – individuals and organisations that are respected by peers in corporations and government as actively engaging, developing and leading in their respective businesses fields. In each city, only one keynote speaker addresses the forum.

ALD is a forum of Platinum Circle, a private business group of global and Asia corporations each with annual revenues exceeding USD100 million. The Dialogues provide a high-powered platform for business leaders in each country to speak with their peers on personal experiences, management philosophies and views on Asia’s future.

The Asia Leader is Mr. Jamshyd N. Godrej, Chairman of the Board, Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Company Limited. He will deliver the Asia Leaders keynote speech on “Leadership in a New Asia” at the Grand Hyatt Hotel this morning to more than 500 executives.

Mr. Lionel Lee, Chairman of Platinum Circle, said: “The first eight ALD events were held in Hong Kong on 11 June, Bangkok on 2 July, Singapore on 14 July Kuala Lumpur on 16 July, Ho Chi Minh on 21 July, New Delhi on 23 July, Jakarta on 29 July and Manila on 30 July. The forums were met with overwhelming response. The Dialogues’ success so far reflects the desire among Asia’s corporate and public sector leaders to step up onto the world stage and play a contributory stewardship role. The ALD provides the platform for them to engage one another in issues that impact the Asia’s economic and business landscape. Platinum Circle is pleased to cater to this need with the upcoming Dialogues in other major Asian cities in the coming weeks.”

The last stop in the series will be held in Karachi on 7th Oct 2009.

SAP is the Strategic Partner of the Asia Leadership Dialogues 2009. The world’s leading provider of business software - offering applications and services that enable companies of all sizes and in more than 25 industries to become best-run businesses – worked closely with Platinum Circle to host the Asia Leadership Dialogues with the SAP World Tour 09. This unique combination of the Asia Leadership Dialogues and the SAP World Tour 09 will help more than 2,500 leaders and executives in 10 Asian cities see their way clearly in the new reality.

Mr Lee added that the entire catalogue of 10 keynote speeches in this series of forums may be subsequently published and distributed globally, to preserve the Asia Leaders’ insights for posterity.
