Kajaria Ceramics Limited (KCL), the largest manufacture of ceramic glazed floor and wall tiles is all set to make foray in manufacture of vitrified tiles at its one of the existing manufacturing location at Sikandrabad in Uttar Pradesh.The company is setting up 2.40 msm per annum capacity of vitrified tiles at an approximate cost of Rs. 36 crore.
Currently, the Sikandrabad plant has the manufacturing capacity of 6.9 sq mtr of ceramic glazed floor tiles. With this expansion, this plant capacity shall become 9.30 msm per annum and the aggregate capacity of both the plant shall be 23.40 msm per annum.
Presently the company is importing the vitrified tiles from China and selling through its dealer network and showrooms.
The project is proposed to be complete in mid-january 2010.
Mr Ashok Kajaria, CMD said, “The tiles industry in India has been growing at a steady pace of CAGR of around 15% historically except for the year ended March 2009 where it grew hardly because of slump in the real estate sector. However Kajaria ceramics’ turnover has grown by 31% in the year ended March 2009 over the corresponding previous year. We are targeting a turnover of Rs. 780 crore in FY 2009-10 and Rs. 950 crore in 2010 -11 as the full impact of this plant shall come in FY 2010-11.”
