KLE Society's Law College, rated amongst the leading fifteen law colleges in India, has decided to accept the Law School Admission Test—India (LSAT—India) as one of the admissions criteria from the year 2011.
LSAT—India is a test that helps law schools make sound admission decisions by providing a standard measure of acquired reading and verbal reasoning skills that are essential for success in law school. LSAT—India is adapted from LSAT®, which is regarded as the gold standard in law school admission testing and is accepted by leading law schools worldwide. The LSAT and LSAT—India are produced by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC). LSAT—India does not require candidates to prepare for any specific subject, such as GK or legal knowledge.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. J.M. Mallikarjunaiah, Principal, KLE Law College said, “Our decision to adopt LSAT—India was after a careful evaluation of the test’s ability to identify candidates that are best suited to pursue an education and career in law. We were impressed by LSAT’s performance for over six decades and LSAC’s commitment to bring to India a special version to address the specific needs of Indian law schools. The test being conducted across India would also ensure a wider reach for the institute.”
Welcoming the KLE Law College, Mr. Daniel Bernstine, President, LSAC, said, “Adoption of LSAT—India by KLE is a strong endorsement of its performance. We are also encouraged by the positive response from candidates that we continue to receive. We are confident that KLE Law College admission procedures will be well served with the addition of LSAT—India as a screening tool.”
Mr. Sarvesh Shrivastava, Pearson VUE Managing Director, APAC said, “We are excited that KLE and other leading colleges and institutes in India are recognizing the need for admission tests to move away from testing candidate’s subject knowledge to testing aptitude and ability to pursue a particular field of study. KLE’s adoption of LSAT—India is also a recognition of standardized tests to best measure these abilities.”
