Luminous Power Technologies (P) Limited, a leader in Power Backup solutions for home, commercial, telecom towers & renewable energy systems, launched LED (light emitting diode) based Solar Lighting Solution, an ideal low cost solution for Rural Home Lighting requirements.

Lighting is a basic and one of the most essential end-uses of electricity in the rural areas. As per National Sample Service Office statistics, about 39% of households in rural India still use kerosene to meet their lighting requirements. Kerosene lamps generally provide poor quality light; produce greenhouse gas emissions and most importantly, have significant health and safety hazards associated with them. Thus the need for an alternative solution for rural lighting arises.

This high standard and low cost solution is the first in the series of new offerings from the house of Luminous Power Technologies in the renewable energy genre. The innovative, energy efficient LED based design of this new product with a single light output is at par with 11W CFL. It can be termed as single solution for all daily household lighting needs.

This equipment has PWM based compact electronic circuitry with high efficiency. It offers uniform & constant bright light output over entire battery voltage range. It is specially designed for maximum energy harvesting from connected solar module, as compared to other products. This equipment can provide light output ranging between 11 to 102 hrs.

Commenting on the launch Mr. Manish Pant, MD, Luminous Power Technologies said, “With the growing economy and industrial revolution, the booming demand of electricity has raised the voice for the need to opt more and more renewable energy technologies. In India around 95,000 villages are still not connected to the power grid. Out of these, approximately 18,000 villages are unlikely to ever have access to the national grid due to their remote location. Around 62 million rural households depend upon kerosene to meet their day to day lighting needs. Access to clean lighting is key to better quality of living, livelihood, income generation and overall development of these rural households. For these communities, renewable energy technologies are viable options as they provide sustainable energy services to meet their energy needs”.

“We are confident that our new solar lighting solution will allow rural India to access lighting and hereby replacing kerosene with the portable Luminous LED lights. This unique product range offers a wide array of benefits including reduced air pollution, improved studying conditions for children, safety from kerosene lighting led accidents, cost effectiveness, generating more work capacity and potentially higher income by offering night work opportunity to skilled labourers (e.g. a tailor, a craftsman) with a better light source”, he further added.
