M&M automotive sales zoom 49.5%

Mumbai, june 01 '07: Mahindra & Mahindra, a part of the $4.5 billion Mahindra Group, consolidated its leadership in the automotive segment substantially in May with total vehicle sales of 18116, a growth of 49.5% over the corresponding month last year.

Mahindra Renault Logan received a resounding response from customers in the 11 cities that the car has been launched so far, clocking sales of 2786 units in less than a month since the first delivery in May.

Dr. Pawan Goenka, President, Automotive Sector, said, "Mahindra automotive sales has been constantly outperforming industry; we have clocked a great growth of 49.5% this month in line with our endeavour to give customers the best in class vehicles at best in class prices. Joining the stable this month with equally superb showing is Mahindra Renault Logan and our commercial vehicles which have notched record 1006 numbers. These will boost Mahindra's dominance in the automotive segment."

Mr. Rajesh Jejurikar, EVP, Sales & Marketing, Automotive Sector, said, "Mahindra has sustained its UV leadership clocking 10986 numbers in May as against 8945 last fiscal. The Scorpio continued its grow trajectory month on month, showing a rise of 31%. Our vehicles continue to excite the customers with their innovativeness. The exceptional sales in May justify our passion to deliver the best to customers."

Utility Vehicles

Utility vehicles, including the Scorpio and the Bolero range, sold over 10986 numbers in May, as compared with 8945 last year.

Exports

The company's automotive sector clocked sales of 802 vehicles in May as opposed to 486 units in the corresponding period last fiscal.
