October 25, 2006 New Delhi: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. today launched their 'Powerol' brand of Diesel Generating (DG) sets at the Powergen exhibition in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Launched in 2001, the Powerol Engine Application venture is part of M&M's Farm Equipment Sector. Powerol DG sets have set new trends in the Indian Telecom industry by assuming total ownership for the entire value chain of mobile operators and are in high demand from the governmental and institutional markets.

Says Mr. Gautam Nagwekar, Executive Vice-President, Sales & Marketing, Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra, "Powerol offers a three-fold value proposition for the consumer; it offers fuel-efficient and cost-effective end-to-end solution, provides total ownership that powers the customer's business efficiently, and thus enables him to focus on his core business. The entire gamut of activities includes transportation through its own Transport Solutions Group, Installation & Commissioning of the set, Warranty, Post-warranty, CAMC (Comprehensive Annual Maintenance Contracts), among others. This customer centric approach has ensured the leadership position for Powerol in its sphere. Prestigious customers include State Bank of India, BPCL, IOCL, ICICI, JK Bank, Siemens, Nokia, Thomas Cook and numerous Maharashtra Government Departments."

With its success in the institutional market, Powerol is keen to introduce its services in the retail segment. Powerol DG sets will be sold through branded showrooms across the country, supported by over 120 exclusive service points, which are already operational. As part of its customer centric approach, Powerol has taken the initiative to introduce retail finance for purchase of DG sets, the first time that organized retail finance is being offered for this range of DG sets.

Powerol began by supplying high-quality Engines to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) manufacturing DG sets. Subsequently, Powerol entered the DG set business, realizing the need to be present at the customer interface and to play a larger role of providing total solutions rather than merely the product. M&M DG sets are approved by CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board) for Noise and Emission levels and by the Directorate General of Supplies & Disposals, Engineer- in Chief of Army.
