NDTV announces CEO appointments

Mumbai, February 23, 2007---NDTV today announced the appointment of three leaders to head the group's new growth ventures. Vikram Chandra has been appointed as the CEO and Managing Director of NDTV Networks PLC, a 100% subsidiary incorporated in United Kingdom. Smeeta Chakrabarti will serve as the CEO of NDTV Lifestyle Ltd and Rahul Deshpande will take on the mandate of CEO of NDTV Labs ltd, the software and technology company.
 
In his role as CEO of NDTV Networks. Vikram will be responsible for the success of the company that will steer the group's new business initiatives worldwide comprising entertainment, lifestyle, convergence, outsourcing, new channels set up in different countries and software/technology development, all of which will be run as separate and independent companies managed and led by highly professional CEOs. Vikram will report to the CEO of the NDTV Group and to the Board of Directors of NDTV Networks.
 
Vikram has been leading the company's growth initiatives for the past one year and has played a significant role in incubating several of these businesses. He has served as CEO of ndtv.com, the company's internet and mobile content operations and as Managing Editor of NDTV Profit, the Business news channel.
 
Vikram started his career as a reporter with Newstrack in 1991. He joined NDTV in 1995 and made a mark with his frontline reporting from Kargil and Siachen. He has anchored more than 1000 hours of live coverage of Election, budgets and Indo-Pak summits and won prestigious industry awards for his shows.
 
Vikram will, of course, continue to be one of NDTV's leading and most experienced anchors and senior journalists. Vikram holds a BA degree in Economics from St Stephen's, Delhi University and an MA in Politics and Economics from University of Oxford, UK. Vikram has been honoured as the Global Leader of Tomorrow in 2007 by The World Economic Forum in Davos.
 
Smeeta Chakrabarti , CEO of NDTV Lifestyle Ltd, a subsidiary of the UK company, NDTV Networks PLC, will be responsible for launching new channels under the lifestyle genre. Smeeta brings with her immense talent and the highest standards in television production and management. She has the solid reputation of building the country's finest production team.
 
Smeeta has been with NDTV since its incorporation 18 years ago and her tremendous experience makes her the first choice for this position. Smeeta will of course continue to carry out her Group level responsibilities as Head of Operations for the NDTV Group.
 
Rahul S Deshpande has been appointed the CEO of NDTV Labs ltd, also a subsidiary of NDTV Networks PLC. NDTV Labs will develop market and sell software and technology products and solutions created by a talented team of in-house specialists that Rahul will lead. Rahul and his team have won four Commonwealth awards in the last five years for innovative engineering and technology.
 
Rahul Deshpande, as the CTO of NDTV, has been heading Engineering and IT for over 12 years. His team of brilliant engineers and programmers constantly push the envelope in developing innovative solutions as well as streamlining broadcast workflows and systems. Amongst other achievements, NDTV is one the first news broadcasters in the world who have a completely tape-less news acquisition facility.
 
Rahul's experience with technology partnership networks and independent software vendors has equipped him with cross-domain knowledge and relationships which will enable penetration in global markets for cutting edge media technology products developed by NDTV Labs.
