Nestor receives WHO GMP certificate from Ivory Coast Health Ministry

Nestor Pharmaceuticals has received the certificate of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) from Ivory Coast’s health ministry for exporting products in the region. This approval is in accordance to the format prescribed by World Health Organization (WHO). The approval has been granted for a period of 5 years initially.

Announcing this Mr. Rahul Sehgal, President Nestor pharmaceuticals said, “Ivory Coast had conducted a detailed inspection of the manufacturing facilities at Nestor’s Faridabad plant in July 2011 and found them to be compliant of all quality standard requirements as per Ivory Coast FDA and WHO-GMP norms.” With this certificate Ivory Coast market would be open for Nestor Pharmaceuticals making healthy contribution to its export sales from the area, added Mr. Sehgal.

Nestor Pharma is eyeing to expand its international business in a big way. The firm is planning to invest $5 million in commissioning a new manufacturing facility in Nigeria. The above certification will help Nestor to tap the large African market, out of which Nigeria being the most lucrative market.

Nestor has already filed 35 product dossiers under the various therapeutic categories like antibiotics, antifungals, antimalarials and PPI formulations for registration in the country out of which 11 products have already been registered. The products will be exported to Senegal, Cameroon, Gabon, Nigeria, Angola, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Libya, Madagascar, Congo (DRC), Burkina Faso, and Benin along with Ivory Coast in the form of tablets, capsules, dry injections, and liquids.

Nestor has tied up with leading distributors and also filled tenders of Government bodies to export its products in other African regions as well.
