Faculty of Management Studies, MRIU organized orientation programme for its MBA batch of 2011-13 from 1st to 19th August 2011. The inaugural lamp was lit by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. N C Wadhwa and the Guest of Honor for the day- Mr. Venkatesh Mahadevan (Country Head- IT, Motorola Inc.) & Dr. Chavi Bhargava Sharma, Director, Faculty of Management Studies, MRIU. The objective of the programme was to acclimatize the new entrants with the prevailing system. The Orientation Programme concluded with a Fresher’s Party today.
The programme was a prelude to the entire gamut of activities and the rigorous training which the, would- be managers would be undergoing in the coming two years. The programme had a pious beginning with Havan where blessings were sought from the Almighty. Thereafter, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor addressed the students with a very motivating and inspiring speech.
It was followed by a session by Mr. Venkatesh Mahadevan on “Life in the Corporate World”. During the orientation programme, the students were divided into various groups. A special ice breaking session was conducted where each student had to know about at least one member of his/ her group and then reiterate it to the whole class.
On the occasion Chancellor, Dr. O.P. Bhalla conveyed his best wishes to all the students for a successful and enriching academic session.
The orientation programme had many interactive sessions by industry leaders such as Shri J. P. Malhotra, President Faridabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry on ‘Experiential learning’; Shri Rajeev Chawla, Hon. General Secretary, Faridabad Small Industries Association, on ‘Tips on Professionalism’, Time Management, Change Management and Current Management Philosophies &
Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, Director General, Amity Business School, NOIDA and leading psychologist, on ‘3 Mantras and 9 Learnings’ to be successful in life. He also highlighted different personality types and their workplace influences.

The orientation programme was interspersed with fun- filled activities too. All students participated with full Gusto and enthusiasm in the activities held on the Sports Day. A movie review exercise was conducted to convey how movies may be viewed with the purpose of understanding the true essence of life. The Groups chose a particular issue which is faced by our Country even after 64 years of Independence, like Corruption, Child Labor, Female Infanticide, Global Warming, Alcoholism etc. Then the Groups prepared Charts which were Issue based, very colorful and thought provoking. The students went around the whole campus to take pledges from the Students, Faculty Members and Staff of the University, on these issues. Students were also taken for industry visit to Escorts Farmtrac Division.
The highlight of the orientation programme was when the students interacted with the star caste of the movie ‘Aarakshan’. The students visited the IBN 7 studio for a Debate on ‘Aarakshan’. Students asked many Questions which were well answered by Amitabh Bachhan, Prakash Jha and Saif Ali Khan. The show was aired on Sunday, August 7th, under the show named ‘Mudda’ on CNN-IBN 7.
Corporate Dossier
A Unique Feature of the Orientation Programme is preparing for each Incoming student- a Corporate Dossier. This Dossier will have all the Tests reports pertaining to Aptitude Tests, EQ Tests, Personality Tests etc. These tests have been conducted by the FMS HR lab throughout the Orientation Programme. Results of the tests will be evaluated by the HR Lab and a comprehensive final report will be given to each student regarding his/ her strengths, weaknesses, personality type and what he/ she needs to really work on during the 2 year programme.
