Pramod Chaudhari is the New Chairman of CII Maharashtra State Council

Pramod Chaudhari, Chairman, Praj Industries was elected as Chairman of CII Maharashtra State Council for the year 2009-10.

Mr Chaudhari graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from IIT Bombay in 1971.  He established Praj Industries Ltd in 1984. Praj Industries provides technology and plants for production of green fuel with a focus on ethanol and biodiesel t.  As the founder of Praj, Pramod has always sought challenging opportunities.  Pramod is an alumnus of Harvard Business School.  He invests his time in guiding young entrepreneurs and is passionate about innovation.

Mr Chaudhari believes that the pursuit of green energy and technologies for mitigation of climate change will provide sustainability not only for business, but also the environment as a whole.  He has contributed to the National Biofuels Policy as a member of the Committee on Development of Biofuels – Planning Commission, Government of India for introduction of renewable fuels in India and heads the CII Biofuels Committee as its Chairman.

Mr Chaudhari has been profiled in a book called ‘Thought Leaders’ by a leading Indian Author.  He has been conferred the ‘Distinguished Alumnus Award’ of IIT, Bombay in  2005 and ‘Outstanding Contribution thru Innovation Award’ of Chemtech Foundation for leading Praj into development innovative technologies.

He is a great believer in the Indian Growth Story.

Nitin Paranjpe the CEO & Managing Director of Hindustan Unilever Ltd was elected as Vice Chairman of CII Maharashtra State Council for the year 2009-10.

He joined Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL) as a Management Trainee in 1987.  In India, he held several positions in Sales and Marketing, including Product Manager, and Branch Manager, South Branch. He moved to Unilever HQ in London in 2000 and was involved in a review of the Organisational Structure.  During 2001, he was Assistant to the Unilever Chairman & Executive Committee in London.  On his return to HLL in 2002, he became the Category Head-Fabric Wash & Regional Brand Director (Asia) for some Laundry and Household Cleaning brands. In 2004, he became Vice President - Home Care (Laundry & HHC) India, responsible for the top and bottom line of the Home Care business.  From March 2006 to March 2008 he was the Executive Director for the Home & Personal Care business.

He is on the Managing Committees of industry associations such as Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and EU Chamber of Commerce where he is Vice Chairman, including Chairman of the Indo-Netherlands Committee of Bombay Chamber and Chairman of Rural Business Hubs Committee of CII.  He is also a Member of the General Committee of the Breach Candy Hospital Trust.
