President Mrs. Pratibha Patil presented with 8-volume book ’Indian Culture’

Books, published by Bharatiya Vidya Mandir & Simplex Infrastructures Ltd., presented by Simplex Infra CMD Mr. BD Mundhra.

Hon’ble President of India Mrs. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil, recently, was presented with an 8-volume collection of books on ‘Indian Culture’ by a well-known industrialist Mr. BD Mundhra, Chairman and Managing Director, Simplex Infrastructures Ltd. at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Published by Bharatiya Vidya Mandir and Simplex Infrastructures Ltd., Indian Culture presents kaleidoscopic glimpses of Indian Culture in eight volumes and is a compilation of articles by eminent scholars on varied subjects.

Also, present at the occasion were Dr. Indranath Chowdhury, scholar of international repute and  former Secretary of Sahitya Acadamy, Dr. Babulal Sharma, a Rajasthani & Hindi Literature and Culture scholar and the Director of Bharatiya Vidya Mandir, Mr. Rajiv Mundhra, Director, Simplex infrastructures, Mr. Shyam Bagri, Mr. TK Kaul and Mr. Shankar Lal Somany.

Appreciating the work undertaken by the team of people for the collection of books, Hon’ble President, Smt. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil said, “It is very important for us to know the tradition and sublimity of our Culture and the efforts which Bharatiya Vidya Mandir and corporates such as Simplex Infrastructures are putting in are commendable.”

Mr. BD Mundhra, co-editor of the books, on behalf of the chief editor, Shri Jai Kishandas Sadani, a scholar of great perception and erudition who passed away recently, shared his views regarding eagerness of younger generation and people at large to know the finer points and sublimity of our culture which propelled the team of editors into bringing out the publication. The eight-volume compendium consisting of 202 articles by distinguished scholars and writers highlights the great heritage of India, its people, arts, architecture, religion and culture.

These books were released recently in Kolkata by Dr. Karan Singh, who endorsed the opinions of other luminaries present there and said “Indian Culture flowing like Ganges from the Himalayas, is incomparable. Publishing such volumes is a great work akin to Bhagirath in bringing the Ganges on the planes, granting happiness for all, in the spirit of one human family.”

Mr. Mundhra’s father late Shri Madho Das Mundhra was of scholarly pursuits, deeply involved in the study of culture and literature. He has authored several books like Raso Vaise, Sukhi Jivan, etc. which are of great literary value. Moreover, both Bharatiya Vidya Mandir and Simplex Infrastructures Ltd., an eighty year old infrastructure development company have been jointly responsible for publishing various books of literary value.

Mundhras hail from Bikaner, Rajasthan migrated to Kolkata more than one and half centuries back but roots firmly set in Bikaner where they have constructed a Hospital and handed over the same to the State Government, running a school for educating the children keeping with the tradition of Bharatiya Vidya Mandir which was established by the family initially for imparting education to the displaced people from Pakistan.

Mrs. Yamuna Mundhra, wife of Mr. BD Mundhra also presented a shawl as a token of respect to Honourable President of India Mrs. Patil.
