IDG India’s CIO magazine has presented the 2009 CIO 100 award to PVR Limited. The award is accorded to organizations that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology (IT). This year's award theme was "The Ingenious 100”.The award is primarily for those CIOs and organizations who, despite, the global economic slowdown, found ingenious solutions to accelerate their business growth via the use of information technology.
PVR has recently achieved another milestone with the current 108 screens, spread over 14 cities, 26 locations and 10 states across India. With an annual footfall of over 20 million people, PVR is credited with 15 per cent of revenue contributions to the domestic box office.
PVR has pioneered innovation in cinema exhibition business, with introductions such as web based online ticketing; a fully digital multiplex at Ambience Mall, Gurgaon; THX - approved three way surround sound system with real life sound effects and a projection facility with latest Xenon based technology; mobile based information & ticketing service and many more.
