Ravi Krishnan, a key and prominent name in the business of Sports, Entertainment and Media marketing has decided to move back to IMG in a new and challenging role.
Ravi Krishnan will be joining as the Managing Director and Sr Vice President, IMG South Asia with effect from April 1, 2009.
Putting recent speculation to rest, Ravi Krishnan said, "It is true that I have decided to take up this new role at IMG. These are interesting times for the Group and for India. In addition to managing existing IMG properties we will look to developing innovative initiatives, in the near future, both from our global bouquet as well as home grown."

Ravi has always had a natural affinity for our business, was a prime mover in establishing IMG in India and we look forward to the next stage of our association. Ravi's principal remit, in addition to overseeing existing IMG properties, will be to execute and oversee our new business and business development plan as we seek to grow our business in India and South Asia. IMG and our Chairman Teddy Forstmann believe that India is a country of enormous potential and it will be Ravi's responsibility to work with me and the IMG India team to deliver on that belief. "
As a result of this move, Ravi would be relinquishing all his responsibilities as Vice Chairman, Rajasthan Royals, the champions of IPL 2008.
Ravi Krishnan, a lawyer by training, Krishnan was part of a four-member team that was sent, in 1995, to set up IMG’s operations in India. Ravi Krishnan has to his credit spear heading the creation of some interesting properties which have gone on to become benchmarks in their respective fields. During his tenure at IMG, he was instrumental in creating properties such as the Sahara Cup, The Chennai Open, India’s only ATP event (has now completed unprecedented 14years), Lakme India Fashion Week, and then Lakme Fashion Week amongst many other events across several genres.
In April 2006, after having spent over 11years with IMG based in India, Ravi decided to explore new territories but continued as an Advisor. At Rajasthan Royals, Krishnan had played an advisory role to the franchise in structuring the business for commercial, operational and on-field success. Besides, Rajasthan Royals, Krishnan also promoted Abler Advisory Pvt Ltd, an investment advisory focused principally on private equity in real estate.
