Samtel represents strength of India's private sector at Defexpo 2010

Samtel, the leading Indian player in high-technology products for avionics, military, naval and industrial applications, will be showing a strong presence at Defexpo 2010, Asia’s premiere Land and Naval Defense Systems Show. This event, being organized by the Indian Ministry of Defense, will see Samtel presenting its range of world-class avionics, military, naval and industrial products.

SDS, which holds a joint venture with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to co-develop defense systems, will be showcasing a wide range of its products including a  5X5 Multi Functional Display and 6X6 Multi Functional Display developed for HAL’s Su-30 MKI fleet.

Flying high on other partnerships with leaders such as Thales and Honeywell, Samtel will also be showcasing its coveted range of reference products like Rugged Displays for Military, Navy and Industrial Application, Automated Test Equipments (ATE), EFIS 40 Head Down Display, and a new initiative co-developed with global leaders, Saab.

EFIS40 by Honeywell and Samtel
The Electronic Flight Instrument System, EFIS40, with a 4”x4” screen is a compact, high-performance system developed specifically for aircraft accommodating 4-inch instruments. Being developed by Honeywell and Samtel, the product is designed with analog and digital interfaces, and shows bright, clear displays in easy-to-read, easy-to-understand formats. It also includes an advanced self-test capability. The product conforms to Environmental test conditions, including temperature variations from 40°C to +85°C, maximum altitude of 55,000 ft., and high resolution. The product is also ruggedized for vibration, shock and crash safety.

The Multi-Functional display (MFD)
It is a device that paints a composite view of the aircraft’s environment, providing the pilot with all necessary information to make safe decisions during every phase of flight.

  • MFD55 – the 5”x5” screen MFD developed by Samtel under the aegis of DRDO, and manufactured by the Samtel HAL JV has been certified for airworthiness and is flying currently on Sukhoi 30 MKIs. The live demo of this product will be displayed at the Samtel booth under the Samtel HAL collaboration header.
  • MFD66 – the 6”x6”screen MFD developed by Samtel and HAL at their AS9100 certified and MIL qualified facilities will also be put on display. This product has undergone a high-end ruggedisation process in-house to enable operations at very high standards of reliability under extremely adverse environmental conditions.

Automated Test Equipments (ATEs):
Automated Test Equipment (ATE) is an automated device that is used to quickly test and validate the performance of an electronic module or an Avionic LRU (Line replaceable unit). The System level Test Bench on display at the booth is used to evaluate performance of the MFD by performing a suite of tests as defined in the Acceptance Test Procedure (ATP) of the MFD.
