PIX and MAX gain exclusive telecast rights of Danny Boyle’s globally acclaimed motion picture ‘Slumdog Millionaire’
The world’s most widely acclaimed film today will be exclusively on Sony Network’s (Now known as Multi Screen Media Pvt Ltd) Hollywood movie channel PIX and Hindi movie channel MAX. Nominated for 10 Academy Awards, 11 BAFTA Awards and winner of 4 Golden Globe Awards, the network will have exclusive telecast rights for PIX and MAX. Sony Network has bought the rights through a recently concluded license deal with Fox Star India.
‘Slumdog Millionaire’ is a leap in Indian cinema history and has raised India on the global platform, making it one of the most highly talked about films in Indian cinema. Sony Network has been known over the years for its initiative in setting up programs with international formats and telecasting films par excellence. With the telecast rights to ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, the network will make another mark in Indian television history.

Filmed and set in India, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ is a story based on the life of an impoverished Indian teenager Jamal Malik, who is a contestant of the Hindi version of the game show, "Who wants to be A Millionaire?" He is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees when he is arrested on suspicion of cheating. Jamal starts to tell the police the story of his life and so the plot unfolds.
One of India’s greatest musicians, A R Rehman along with Bollywood Star Anil Kapoor, director of the movie Danny Boyle and debutants Freida Pinto and Dev Patel, have all earned immense praise by movie critics and audiences world over.
PIX will also be the channel to air the BAFTA Awards LIVE on the 9th of February, where ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ has received the highest number of nominations in the history of BAFTA Awards. The channel also has the exclusive telecast rights of The Football Association Challenge Cup (popularly known as FA Cup). Acclaimed films such as ‘The Queen’, directed by Stephen Frears have made their Indian television premiere on PIX.
