Microland's new offering, Smart Future Mobility Service, utilizes Sybase's proven mobility services expertise and best-in-class enterprise device management platform, Afaria to help global businesses meet the complexities surrounding increased demand for hosted/managed services, richer applications, broader mobile device support, access to backend systems, centralized management and security. This new service also enables enterprises to develop and implement mobility strategy, support their mobile workforce and manage their mobility infrastructure 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

Sunil Jose, Managing Director-India & Sub-Continent, Sybase said, "The rapid influx of employee-owned smartphones  into the enterprise has helped boost employee productivity and satisfaction. Globally, best-in-class companies are using a step wise Mobility Management approach to take control of their burgeoning mobile infrastructures. Security compliance, centralized mobile device control, and application deployment are major challenges that global enterprises must overcome to benefit from the existing corporate mobility world. Commenting on the partnership, Pradeep Kar, Chairman and Managing Director, Microland Limited said, "Today, mobility is creating a new, convenient communication and transaction channel to end- users. However, enabling and managing mobility for the workforce of tomorrow pose significant challenges to enterprise IT operations.  Microland's Mobility Service addresses challenges such as securing flow of information, simplifying the management of devices and enabling mobile transactions across multiple business processes. By partnering with Sybase, we can offer our customers leading-edge management capabilities for all forms of mobile devices, to increase productivity and competitiveness. We chose Sybase as a strategic partner based on the capabilities and strength of its enterprise device management platform."

Sybase also announced that its latest version of Afaria supports iPad and Android devices and this enables Sybase to extend its ubiquitous device support to a list that includes iPhone, Windows Mobile, Windows, Symbian and BlackBerry.
