Tata Indicom targets Social Generation, launches Facebook on SMS

Tata Teleservices Limited, India’s fastest growing pan India telecom service provider today announced that it has launched Facebook mobile on SMS in India.

Tata Indicom subscribers can now enjoy Facebook through SMS. The service enables users to receive via SMS their messages and notifications from Facebook and they can reply back, send messages and set their Facebook Status via SMS. When the user is offline or busy at work, he or she can stay connected and share with his friends on Facebook thanks to the Facebook SMS service available on Tata Indicom.

It offers an extremely convenient access to Facebook along with the mobility factor adding to the popularity and usage of the networking tool.

We are truly excited to be the first operator in India to launch Facebook on SMS, a very addictive and useful feature for our subscribers to be in touch with their friends anytime, anywhere, and on any handset.”

To activate the service, Tata Indicom subscribers can register their mobile number on Facebook and start receiving via SMS Facebook messages and notifications. Users can also update their Facebook status at any time by sending a text message to the short code 51555. Users will be charged Rs. 1/- for every SMS sent via short code.

Users can also search/add friends, poke them, write on their wall, post messages and comment on their friend’s activity right from their phone simply with SMS.  Users can also upload their mobile photos by sending MMS to mobile@facebook.com. Facebook users of Tata Indicom can register for this services through www.facebook.com/ mobile and enjoy all Facebook features on SMS.
