Tata power retail business attains a new milestone

Consumer base crosses 75,000 mark

Tata Power, India's largest integrated private power utility, as on 15th June 2010 reached a new milestone in its retail business expansion in Mumbai as its consumer base crossed the 75000 mark.

The Company’s consumer mix comprises of 78% Residential, 6% Industrial and 16% Commercial, which further reiterates its commitment in meeting changeover request across user groups especially the residential consumers.

Tata Power had 26,000 direct consumers base in Mumbai before it started expansion of its retail business in November 2009. The rapid pace at which the consumer base has moved from a mere 26000 to 50000 and now to 75000 not only reflects the faith shown by the Mumbai consumers in the company but also endorses the quality and reliability that has been hallmark of the company for several decades.

Speaking on the rapid expansion in the retail business, Mr. S. Padmanabhan, Executive Director-Operations, The Tata Power Company Limited, said, “We are grateful to the Mumbai consumers for their trust and support shown in us and remain committed to serving them to the best of our ability. The confidence shown by the consumers in choosing us as their preferred partner is overwhelming and motivates us to deliver quality and reliable power supply and excellent customer service.”

Tata Power has also introduced various Customer Care Initiatives for Mumbai consumers in the last few months. The Company has started its first customer care center at Borivli and further installed GIS for quick & efficient planning for the new connection power supply. Besides the other payment facilities, bill payment centers for cash & cheque collection has been opened at Mira Bhayender and Cash Collection Centers at Chembur, and Andheri.

Additional collection centers are being opened at Goregaon & Malad in June, Santacruz, Ville parle, Jogeshwari, Dahisar and Powai in July. 18 New Connection Application collection centers have been opened up across Mumbai for collection of new connection application forms. Fleet on Street team has been visiting various societies to collect the application forms from customers.

Customer Connect - a customized software for speedy processing of application has been commissioned. Several new bill payment kiosks are being introduced to facilitate easy payments for the customers. For ease of payment, Tata Power has also provided 40 electronic drop boxes which have instant payment acknowledgement facility.

Three new customer care centers will be opened in this year to interact with customers for their queries, requests, complaints and other services. A Master Customer Care center will be made operational in June 2011 at Andheri. The Company has also developed the customer information portal for its consumers offering various online facilities such as Billing information, Payment History, online form filling for various services.
