2012 edition of BroadcastAsia will spotlight on Over The Top (OTT) technology

Singapore Exhibition Services, organiser of BroadcastAsia and CommunicAsia, the most established infocomm technology (ICT) and digital multimedia technology event of its kind in Asia, gave a special preview today at a press conference.

India’s growing Broadcast Industry

The Indian television and broadcasting industry has witnessed an immense growth over the last two decades, with an average annual growth rate of double percentage digits. According to a Ernst & Young report , the Indian media and entertainment industry registered revenues of US$16.3 billion in 2010 and is expected to be in excess of US$25 billion in the next four years. The country has more than 600 television channels, 100 million pay-television households, 70,000 newspapers and produces more than 1,000 films annually.

India has always been animportant market for the broadcasting players, as it is the world's third largest TV market with almost 138 million TV households, next only to China and USA. Cable and Satellite penetration has reached close to 80 per cent. New technologies like High Definition (HD),STBs (Set Top Boxes) with inbuilt recorders and delivery platforms like mobiles are rapidly evolving, creating further opportunities for innovation and growth.
