The cumulative production data for April-July 2009 shows production growth of 10.26 percent over same period last year. In July 2009, overall production grew by 12.52 percent over the same month last year.
Domestic Sales
Passenger Vehicles segment during April-July 2009 grew at 9.45 percent over same period last year. Passenger Cars grew by 10.54 percent, Utility Vehicles fell by (-) 1.53 percent and Multi Purpose Vehicles grew by 22.90 percent in this period. In July 2009, Passenger vehicles sales recorded a growth rate of 29.18 percent over July 2008.
The overall Commercial Vehicles segment registered negative growth at (-) 7.57 percent during April-July 2009 as compared to the same period last year. While Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles registered de-growth at (-) 30.11 percent, Light Commercial Vehicles grew at 19.00 percent. In July 2009, commercial vehicles sales grew by 9.61 percent compared to July 2008. M&HCV fell by 8.00 percent and LCV grew by 28.02 percent.
Three Wheelers sales recorded a growth rate of 9.17 percent in April-July 2009. While Passenger Carriers grew by 18.27 percent during April-July 2009, Goods Carriers declined at (-) 15.96 percent. In July 2009, three wheelers sales grew at 15.36 percent.
Two Wheelers registered a growth of 15.84 percent during April-July 2009. Mopeds, Scooters and Motorcycles grew by 22.87 percent, 19.84 percent and 14.91 percent respectively. Electric two wheelers segment registered a growth rate of (-) 66.98 percent. In the month of July, two wheelers sales registered a growth of 20.07 percent.
Exports
During April-July 2009, all segments except Passenger vehicles registered de-growth.
Commercial Vehicles, Three Wheelers and Two Wheelers segments recorded growth of (-) 38.60 percent, (-) 12.07 percent and (-) 3.75 percent respectively during April-July 2009. Overall automobile exports registered a growth rate of 2.35 percent. Passenger Vehicles segment, however, grew by 37.61 percent in this period. In July 2009, overall exports grew by 5.15 percent with only Passenger Vehicles and Two Wheelers registering positive growth at 20.85 percent and 5.50 percent respectively.
