Volvo Construction Eqp unveils new state-of-the-art Customer Center in B'lore

Mr. Eberhard Wedekind, President – Region Asia, Volvo CE and Chairman - Volvo India today inaugurated the first ever Operator Training School in Hoskote, Bangalore by Volvo CE, India.

In a continued effort to serve its customers better, Volvo Construction Equipment has invested in a customer demo centre cum operator training school, which will provide training in maintenance and trouble shooting as well as in operating sophisticated construction equipment. This centre will be open to its customers, dealers and general candidates to help in strengthening knowledge and skills.

The training centre is built over 10 acres and with an investment of USD 2.5 million (an equivalent of approximately Rs. 12 Crores). The Operator Training School boasts of training stations for excavating, loading, hauling, grading & very shortly stations for road machinery such as paving & compaction. New machines have been dedicated for the purpose of training with costs ranging between Rs. 20 lacs for compactors to Rs. 2.5 crores for Articulated Haulers. The aggregate cost of all dedicated equipment is Rs. 7.5 Crores.

A high tech Wheel Loader Simulator initiates new candidates into the sophisticated operations of Wheel Loaders before actually moving on to the loader station for advanced operator’s training.

In 2009 Volvo CE India is set to train over 100 machine operators with capacity to double the inflow and about 400 technicians in this training facility.

Elaborating on the plan for the customer center, Mr. Eberhard Wedekind said, “This Customer Center is one of its kind in India. Spread across 10 acres and built to global standards, the Center is an epitome of Volvo’s corporate values of Quality, Safety and Environmental care. Volvo has invested 2.5 MUSD (an equivalent of Rs. 12 Crores) on creating this facility to cater to training needs of a broad spectrum of society. The facility has trained instructors with more than 15 years of expertise. A comprehensive training facility of this scale does not exist in India currently for construction equipment and Volvo is happy to have pioneered this initiative. The center will equip stakeholders with basic maintenance and advanced operating techniques”.

Volvo has been constantly setting new benchmarks in quality & performance and with this new training centre it has taken one more step towards providing excellence in service to its stakeholders.

According to Mr. Mrityunjaya Singh, MD, Volvo India Pvt Ltd & Head - Volvo CE India, “In the last 10 years, Volvo India has trained over 15,000 Truck & Bus drivers. This Operator Training School initiative will be our continued engagement with enhancing learning skills in the society. The Customer center is designed to give our customers & dealers the right business & learning environment.”
