"We have received reports that Dana committed suicide after she was allegedly humiliated by an invigilator in an examination. Once these facts are ascertained, we will ensure that strict action is taken against the administration," an NCW member said.
The team, headed by NCW member Wansuk Syem, is expected to meet police officers and other officials concerned to find out the circumstances that led to Dana's death, she said.
Dana, a first year MBA student and niece of Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, committed suicide in her hostel room on April 24 after she was allegedly humiliated by an invigilator who claimed to have caught her cheating in the exams.
Police have invoked the SC/ST Act besides pressing abetment to suicide charge (Section 306 of IPC) against the staff and management of Amity University at Punchgaon campus, Gurgaon, in the case. No arrest has been made so far. PTI EKA SJY
