The Anurag Basu-directed love story between a deaf and mute boy and an autistic girl pipped big budget productions like 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' and 'Dabangg 2' to win the maximum nominations.
Priyanka Chopra was nominated in the best actor in a leading role (female) for her turn as an autistic girl in the film, which also won nods in the best music director (Pritam) and best lyrics (Swanand Kirkire for 'Aashiyan') categories.
The best playback singer (male) category nominated two singers from the film - Mohit Chauhan for 'Ala Barfi' and Nikhil Paul George for 'Main Kya Karoon'.
Anurag Kashyap-directed 'Gangs of Wasseypur' followed close with five nominations - best film, best director, Manoj Bajpai in best actor in a leading role (male), Huma Qureshi in best actor in a supporting role (female) and Sneha Khanwalkar in best music director section.
Yash Chopra's 'Jab tak hai Jaan' also won five nominations - Shah Rukh Khan in best actor in a leading role (male), Anushka Sharma in best actor in a supporting role (female), Rabbi in the best playback singer (male) for 'Challa' and two nods for Gulzar in th best lyrics category for the songs 'Saans' and 'Challa'.
'Kahaani' won nods in the best film, best director (Sujoy Ghosh) and best actress (Vidya Balan) sections.
Shoojit Sircar's 'Vicky Donor' was nominated best film, best director, best actor in a supporting role (Annu Kapoor). The film's actor Ayushmann Khurrana was nominated for best playback (male) for 'Pani da rang'. (MORE)
