'Community halls, complexes to come up on vacant EP land'

Inspecting the ongoing construction work of a community hall on EP land, Bhalla said "Government was embarking on a massive plan to develop multipurpose community halls, shopping and residential complexes over vacant EP land to make it a recurring source of revenue generation."

He said the proposed multipurpose community hall would have the facilities of 10-rooms, marriage hall, kitty party hall, toilet block, lawn and parking are.

The estimated cost of the community hall is about Rs 7.5 crore and is stipulated to be completed by December 2013 next year, the Minister said, adding that the hall on its completion would be made available for organising functions on nominal fee.

Bhalla appreciated the efforts made by the EP department in retrieving about 175 acres of land from land grabbers at Panchavati, Chinor, Seeri, Damaal, Akhnoor, Udhaywala, Sunjwan, R S Pura and Vijaypur areas of Jammu and Samba districts.

Later, the Minister also visited Meen Sarkar in Bari Brahamna and inspected the ongoing construction work of 24 flats, for which Evacuee Department has earmarked Rs 1.50 crore under self-financing.
