"Delhi has achieved 100 per cent coverage in respect of installation of set top box (STB) thus ensuring smooth transmission to digital addressable system (DAS). This has facilitated switch over of the existing analogue cable television network to DAS," Delhi Chief Secretary P K Tripathi said.
In Delhi, there are 33.41 lakh households with television penetration of 88 per cent and there are a total of 22.98 cable TV subscribers. In all, 23.21 lakh cable TV STBs have already been installed, he said.
Following the Central government's decision to switch off the existing analogue cable television networks to the DAS, it was mandatory for cable TV viewers to switch-over from analogue cable television networks to DAS in Delhi by October 31.
Meanwhile, the Delhi government has appointed district magistrates and all sub-divisional magistrates as authorised officers within their local limits of jurisdiction, for any complaints regarding carrying signal in analogue mode by cable operators.
Also, the Department of Excise, Entertainment and Luxury Taxes has set up a control room to receive the complaints related to charges for STB and the complaints over implementation of DAS from November 1.
