The programme organised in Chennai, Manipal and Thiruvananthapuram included live election coverage on big screens and in-depth analysis.

A mock polling booth where guests could vote for their favourite candidate, photo opportunities with life-size cut outs of the Presidential candidates and celebrity guests speaking about the impact on India of a new administration, vis-a-vis foreign policy, business relations and bilateral relations were highlights of the programme.

Elaborating on the significance of elections in a vibrant democracy, US Consul General at Chennai Jennifer McIntyre said regardless of the outcome of the election, India would remain a major strategic partner of the US.

"While US-India relations have been expanding for half a century, in this last decade, we have seen exponential growth in the cooperation between our two nations -- cooperation supported by both Democratic and Republican administrations", the diplomat said.
