Likewise, Sudhir Sharma, considered close to former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, has been fielded from Dharamshala in place of Manoj Gaddi.
This was announced by AICC General Secretary Oscar Fernandes here.
Rattan was originally fielded from Jwalamukhi Assembly seat for the November 4 elections but was asked to shift to Dehra constituency in place of R S Rana.
Sharma, who was earlier fielded from Dharamshala, was asked to shift to Jwalamukhi. The Congress had then asked Manoj Gaddi to contest from Dharamshala.
In a statement today, Fernandes said the Central Election Committee has "finally approved" the candidature of Rattan from Jwalamukhi constituency and Sharma from Dharamshala.
There was confusion in Dharamshala unit of the Congress as both Sharma and Gaddi had started campaigning.
