"I have no such (becoming PM) ambition. I will continue to work for the people of Odisha," Patnaik said responding to a question by Prabhu Chawla, Editorial Director of The New Indian Express during an interactive session at the inauguration of a two-day Literary Festival here.

Stressing that his focus was Odisha, the chief minister also ruled out playing the role of a 'king maker' like his legendary father Biju Patnaik did in the past.

"I want to be elected by the people of Odisha and serve them," Patnaik said indicating that he would like to be a 'king' not a 'king maker' like his father.

On his party's stand on formation of a third front at the national level, Patnaik said "It is early days now, but possible in future. BJD is a regional party and issues related to people of Odisha are its main line."

Stating that BJD maintained equi-distance from both the Congress led UPA and BJP led NDA, Patnaik did not divulge his party's ideological proximity with any of the two fronts.

To queries on FDI in retail, insurance and pension sectors, Patnaik said he would take a decision on the matter after consultation with senior leaders of his party. He said BJD's views on FDI would be spelt out in Parliament.

Patnaik pointed out that Odisha did not fit into the scheme as none of its cities had population above 10 lakh to invite major foreign retail company.
