The film is based on the timeless tale of Lord Krishna and has a voice cast of Om Puri as Kans, Juhi Chawla as Mother Yashoda and Prachi Save as Krishna.
Made under the banner of Reliance Animation, a subsidy of Reliance Entertainment, the film also has prominent Bollywood actors as voice artists including Manoj Bajpai, Anupam Kher, A K Hangal, Sachin and Supriya Pilgaokar and Mukesh Khanna.
"'Krishna Aur Kans' is India's first animation film to be released in 3D and is sure to bring families together in cinemas this Janmashtami. It is a captivating story based on Lord Krishna's early life and the victory of good over evil. We are excited on bringing the film to cinemas on August 3," said Reliance Entertainment CEO Sanjeev Lamba.
The film is directed by Vikram Veturi while the music is given by Shantanu Moitra and lyrics are penned by Swanand Kirkire. The songs are rendered by Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, Sunidhi Chauhan and Ustad Rashid Khan.
"The film is of two hours and has over 1,200 artists. It has taken us about five-and-half years to create the finest animated feature film out of India both in terms of quality of animation and captivating storytelling," said Ashish S K, executive producer of the film.
