"Our party has decided during the national conclave at Surajkund that Munde will lead in the general as well as the Assembly polls in 2014," Mungantiwar said at a press conference.
"The 2014 elections are very crucial for the party as we have to topple the Congress-NCP government (in the state)," said Munde, who was also present at the conference.
Munde, a former deputy Chief Minister, said this did not imply that he would be BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate.
"I have only been asked to lead the party in the 2014 elections in Maharashtra. I have not said I will be the prime contender for CM's post. This will be decided when the time comes," Munde said.
