Addressing the 13th Delhi Sustainable Development Summit (DSDS) here, organised by The Energy and Resources Institute, Seychelles President James Alix Michel called for the need to "keep people at the centre of development strategies."
He said this while participating in a discussion on Rio+20 Summit outcome document, 'Defining the Future We Want'.
The thing that reflected common in the speeches given by the Presidents was that all felt a certain level of disappointment with the Rio 20+ conference and the outcome document 'The Future We Want', a TERI release said.
Noting that the South-North tussle witnessed at Rio 20+ conference was still on, Guyana President Donald Ramotar said, "The Third World is carrying a disproportionate burden, while they have not been the major contributor, as in the case of carbon emissions."
Kiribati President Anote Tong put it more diplomatically,
Saying, "The secret to the inability to progress lies in the different interpretations of the 'Future We Want' (document)."

TERI director general Pachauri talked about the need for controlled resource extraction, which is the highest in Asia.
Meanwhile, Norwegian Deputy Minister for International Development, Arvinn E Gadgil will be leading a delegation from his country at the DSDS.
For nearly a decade, Norway has been an active participant at the DSDS, which provides platform for the exchange of international views on global issues concerning environment and sustainability.
"Gadgil will speak on the issue of energy, water and food security at the event. He will also participate at a thematic consultation on energy related to the UN Post-2015 Development Agenda," a Norwegian embassy release said.
The 13th edition of the DSDS focuses on the theme, 'The Global Challenge of Resource-Efficient Growth and Development'. The summit has been held annually in New Delhi since 2001. TGB
