"It is because of the national parties, including Congress and BJP, who miserably failed to fulfil the aspirations of the general masses," the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) (JVM) supremo said.
He was asked about the relevance of regional political parties in the prevailing coalition governments.
Besides BJP, Congress ruled the country for over five decades but it did not meet expectations of people, leading regional parties to emerge, said Marandi.
The national parties themselves have accepted coalition politics as in the prevailing political scenario, it is the only option left, he observed.
National parties neither have the capacity to form a single-party government, nor have the strength to contest all the parliamentary seats in the country today, he stated.
He said it is the regional parties, who are not only taking up the local issues in Parliament but also sincerely working to address the aspirations of the people.

When asked about Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda's opinion for a debate in Parliament on the issue of emergence of regional parties, Marandi said they are not scaring away from any debate.
Earlier, replying to a question whether presence of regional parties in his cabinet was affection his government in any way, Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda had advocated for a debate in Parliament in this regard.
