1.13 lakh unidentified bodies recovered in 2014-16: Govt

A total of 1,13,092 unidentified bodies were recovered across the country between 2014 and 2016, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
Minister of state for home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said of these, 43,283 unidentified bodies recovered and inquest conducted in 2016, a total of 34,592 bodies recovered in 2015 and 35,215 bodies recovered in 2014.
The highest number of unidentified bodies recovered and inquest conducted in Maharashtra - 6,268 bodies in 2016, 6,185 bodies in 2015 and 4,860 bodies in 2014.
In West Bengal, 4,998 unidentified bodies recovered and inquest conducted in 2016, 3,086 bodies in 2015 and 3,740 bodies in 2014.

In Uttar Pradesh, 3,663 unidentified bodies recovered and inquest conducted in 2016, 3,409 bodies recovered in 2015 and 3,707 in 2014.
