1,284 illegal mobile towers in north Delhi: NDMC

Among the 1,284 illegally installed towers in the six zones, Rohini has the maximum of such structures, 615, while City Zone has just 4 of them

Nearly half of the total number of mobile towers installed in areas within the jurisdiction of North Delhi Municipal Corporation are unauthorised.

While 2,539 mobile towers are installed in the NDMC's area, only 1,255 of these are legal, the Standing Committee of the civic body said in response to a short notice raised by councillor Rajesh Bhatia.

NDMC has six zones -- Rohini, Narela, Civil Lines, Sadar Paharganj, Karol Bagh and City. Rohini Zone has the largest number of mobile towers (778) while City Zone, with 184 such towers, has the fewest.

The number of legally-installed towers in the six zones is 1,255 -- Rohini (163), Narela (132), Civil Lines (353), Sadar Paharganj (145), Karol Bagh (282) and City (184).

Among the 1,284 illegally installed towers in the six zones, Rohini has the maximum of such structures, 615, while City Zone has just 4 of them.

Meanwhile, Standing Committee Chairman Mohan Bhardwaj today also briefed about the NDMC's plan to set up a call centre for single-window redressal of grievances of citizens.

As per the plan, the service wil be toll-free and will be integrated with online facility.

The call centre would be initially started for the DEMS (Department of Environment Management) and would later be extended to other departments.

Some of the other features of the facility proposed are: escalation of unattended calls to the authorities concerned as per the escalation matrix provided by the NDMC, call follow-up and feedback.
