1,400 BJP activists held

Over 1,400 BJP workers were arrested today when they attempted to stage demonstrations in various places across the city, protesting 'functioning of the city corporation' without any development activities.
The workers staged demonstrations at 70 places raising slogans against the Corporation for "tardy" progress in completing works,including underground drainage and roads.
Prominent among those arrested were former MP and Coir Board Chairman, C P Radhakrishnan, Tamil Nadu State party general secretary, Vanati Srinivasan and the District BJP president, C R Nandhakumar, police said.
