1,500 police officials lost lives during militancy in JK: DGP

Jammu and Kashmir police today said more than 1,500 police officials lost their lives while protecting the citizens in the state during last 25 years of militancy.
More than 1,500 jawans and officers of the Jammu and Kashmir police were martyred while protecting the people and their properties during last 25 years of militancy, Director General of Police K Rajindra said here.
Addressing a meeting of police officers from Jammu zone, the DGP said, "It was due to their sacrifices that we have succeeded in bringing peace in the State," the DGP said.
"Their families are still a part of the organisation and it is our sole responsibility to think about their welfare. We should stand by them at every occasion of grief and pleasure," he said.
"Wards of martyrs need to be guided properly to select their path to excel in education and sports at national level," the DGP said.
He also took stock of the overall situation in the zone besides preparedness for ensuing Amarnathji Yatra.
