Nearly 1.75 lakh poor families in the city have been provided free LPG cylinders and gas stoves by Delhi government under its ambitious kerosene-free Delhi scheme.
"We have covered 1,74,194 families under the scheme till August 22," Food and Civil Supplies Minister Harun Yusuf said replying to a question in the assembly.
Delhi government had launched the scheme in August last year to make Delhi kerosene-free by giving free gas stoves, cylinders and regulators to all families covered under BPL, Antyodaya Anna Yojna and Jhuggi Ration Card.
An amount of Rs 115 crore was set aside to implement the scheme.
The government plans to cover 3.5 lakh BPL and poor families under the scheme.
