According to a DMRC spokesperson, the assistance provided by the metro staff since January 2012 ranged from administering first aid to taking the ailing passenger to the nearest hospital by ambulance.
They have also been provided wheel chairs and stretchers as per need.
Out of these, approximately 100 cases have been of heart ailments which require immediate attention, the spokesperson said, adding the metro staff have been able to assist around 340 commuters complaining of chest, stomach, abdominal pain.
"In these cases, the ailing passengers have been rushed to the nearest hospital and Metro personnel have accompanied them in case they were traveling alone or their accompanying passengers required further assistance.

To ensure commuters facing health related problems are immediately attended to, all Metro staff deputed at the Metro stations are provided one-week training in First Aid as part of the Delhi Metro's basic training programme for its personnel organised at the Metro Training Institute in Shastri Park, the spokesperson said.
