Police said the accused Tapan Maity was arrested by cops from Hare Street police station earlier in the day after they found inconsistencies in Maity's version that the said amount of money was stolen from bag as he was getting down from a bus near India Exchange Place in B B D Bagh area of city.
Maity was supposed to deliver the cash from a client in Lake Town area to his employer, whose office is in the central business district area of city.
Since the employer on getting back the money withdrew his complaint, Maity was granted bail when produced at court.
