A man was killed in an officer-involved shooting at a hotel amid an ongoing standoff with two people barricaded inside who have fired multiple shots, New Hampshire attorney general's office said Thursday.

The standoff began Wednesday night and stretched into Thursday after the officer-involved shooting with police and the Drug Enforcement Administration agents outside of the Quality Inn in Manchester, near Interstate 293 in a busy area that includes a shopping mall.

Assistant Attorney General Ben Agati says a man with a gun in his hand "engaged" with authorities near the back of the hotel around 7:30 pm Wednesday.

Authorities identified the man killed as 51-year-old Stephen Marshall, of Manchester, in a news conference early Thursday.

Marshall was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police had evacuated the hotel and a nearby restaurant.
