lightning as a squall lashed Purulia district this evening.
A police officer said the man was struck by thunderbolt while standing in open space at Nimdih area of the district.
He was declared dead at the hospital.
The squall brought some respite from the sweltering heat conditions in the district but caused some disruption in road traffic.
