1 dies of drowning, 10 missing
Press Trust of India Dhubri One person died of drowning while at least 1O members of a marriage party went missing when their bus was swept away by the swelling Gaurang in Assam's Dhubri district today, police said.
The mini bus in which 16 members of the marriage party were travelling got stuck in a deep pothole on Alengmari, under Bilasipara police station area, when a big tide from adjoining river swept away the vehicle, Bilasipara police station officer in charge Dhaneswar Das said.
Three of the passengers swam to safety and another two were rescued by NDRF and police which fished out one body, das said.
In another incident in the district, two motor cyclists were swept away by a swollen river at Beltuli and their bodies were later identified as Bikash Saha and Subir Das, police said.
