Police said the incident took place at around 1.30 pm at Goriyabhonga village of Nimatighat when around 25-30 youth came in cars and bikes and attacked a local businessman Bhaiti Das (34) at his house.

Hearing shouts and commotion, some local people came out of their houses and gathered on the spot.
Noticing the people, the gang also attacked them causing injuries to eight women.
All the injured have been admitted to local hospitals and are out of danger.
Locals said the attackers came from the direction of Borigaon.
Police were inquiring if the incident could be a revenge attack as Bhaiti Das had recently assaulted a youth of Borigaon area.
