Irfan was apprehended from near Red Fort yesterday on a tip off, Sanjay Kumar Jain, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), said.
He said 300 gms of heroin worth around Rs 30 lakh has been recovered from him.
During interrogation, Jain said, Irfan told police that he hails from Darbhanga and his family is putting up in Jakhira area of Delhi for the past 22 years. His father is working as a loader in the industrial area of Anand Parbat.
"As his father could not earn enough money to feed the family, his eldest brother Naushad started selling heroin. Irfan used to make footwear but hardly earn enough money to meet the expenses of his family. Irfan fell in bad company and started supplying heroin.
"He has nine criminal cases against him including those under the Arms Act and relating to burglary and robbery. Irfan started supplying heroin to one Parveen and her husband Chand," Jain said.
