One person was arrested and a minor apprehended in connection with two separate cases in which two minor girls were allegedly raped in central and outer Delhi respectively, the police said today.
In the first incident, an eight-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by her maternal uncle at her grandparents' residence in central Delhi's Chandni Mahal.
The incident came to light on Sunday night when the girl's mother found bloodstains on her clothes. As she started questioning her daughter, the girl narrated her ordeal to her. The victim told her mother that the assault had been happening for the last few days but she was scared to tell anyone about it.
A case was lodged on the basis of a complaint from the girl's mother on Tuesday, the police said, adding that the accused was arrested subsequently.
The complainant told the police that she lived with her husband, two sons and a daughter at Paharganj. The couple runs a beauty parlour. One of her sons is speech-impaired. The children used to go to their maternal grandparents' house at Matia Mahal after school.
A couple of weeks back, when the girl was playing at her maternal grandparents' house, her uncle asked her to bring him a glass of water. When she went to his room, he allegedly forced himself on her, the police said.
In the second incident, a 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 17-year-old neighbour on Tuesday afternoon at outer Delhi's Mangolpuri.
The accused allegedly lured the girl to his house by telling her that her mother was there at his house and she was calling her.
The police said the teenager then locked himself in a room with the girl and raped her. He also threatened to kill her younger brother if she told about the incident to anybody. After returning home, the girl narrated the incident to her grandmother, who told her parents about it.
A case was lodged on the basis of a complaint from the victim's parents, the police said, adding that the juvenile offender was apprehended subsequently.
